The end of 2016 saw Martin Solveig collaborate with Ina Wroldsen on his track “Places“. They also dropped a music video, which showcases Ibiza and Martin Solveig’s “My House” residency.

He continues to promote this new song as remixes start to be release. He confirmed that a whole remix package will be out around 10 February. This follows the recent release of the Icarus Remix that was released on 27 January.

It looks like Martin Solveig will be busy during 2017, especially with concerts and festivals coming up, along with “My House” returning for a third year; as well as a lot of new music, which he has confirmed.

He took some time out to answer our questions. Here is our Martin Solveig interview:

Hey Martin, how have you been? What have you been up to lately?

I’m great thanks. I’m back in the studio, it’s a moment I love, spending some time by myself, composing new melodies, writings lyrics, building a new music cocoon; this introspective moment is as exciting as revealing new music to the crowds.

Will there be a Remix EP of “Places” released anytime soon?

The Icarus Remix was released on Jan 27, a whole package will follow around Feb 10.

What was it like working with Ina Wroldsen?

It was amazing. Ina is a exceptional person, she is so generous & openhanded that working with her was really easy & natural. Only good vibes could come out!

Will there be more collaborations with her in the future?

Can’t tell right now but I won’t miss the opportunity if it shows up again.

What are your thoughts on the music video? It shows snippets of “My House” party, tell us more about it.

I just love it, I asked the director, Clayton Vomero, to capture the essence of what we live in Ibiza during the summer season. I have to say he did a great job, I can really feel this particular vibe each time I watch it. 

The snippets show people dancing, smiling and having fun together; togetherness is really at the core of “My House”. I always have some of my friends around at “My House”. Most of the artists I invite are also true friends in my music world so it’s really about sharing and enjoying a festive musical moment.

It’s been six years since you last released an album, are you just focusing on singles for now, or should we expect a new album soon?

To tell you the truth I just do music the way it comes without having a special scheme on my mind. All those singles might finally be added to an album.

Who has been your favourite artist you’ve worked with and why?

Madonna is obviously a very special moment in a producer’s career. She’s a living legend and working with her has been a life changer 

If you could collaborate with anyone, who would it be and why?

Dua Lipa would be a very interesting collaboration, I believe, because she has so much vocal attitude. I feel there’s space for a song with me that she doesn’t have in her repertoire.

It’s now 2017, what’re your plans for this year?

I have a long studio period ahead of me, so hopefully a lot of new music will come out! I also have to work on a new “My House” season at Pacha Ibiza; it’s gonna be our 3rd year so I want to make it even better & bigger than they were the previous years. “My House” goes to Tomorrowland for the second time and I’ll also be playing many more big festivals!

What are you most excited about this year?

I’ve made a lot of changes in my life, in my approach of making music; I’m also working with new people. I’m excited about all this.

You’re bringing “My House” to London in March, what can people expect?

The UK electronic music scene has been a big contributor to “My House” in Ibiza. Riton, Marvin Humes, Billy Kenny, Danny Howard, Mark Knight, Coco Cole are part of the family and after a very successful tour in Leeds, Manchester, and Liverpool, I’m proud to bring the party to London.

How does performing at festivals differ to your own shows? 

The pace of the show is different. In festivals it’s kind of a full on, 100% energy, 1 hour explosion. At “My House” Ibiza, it’s a club vibe. People come for a long time, up to 6 hours, it gives DJs time to set the vibe, build the set and get the crowd through a journey 

You’ve got Mexico’s EDC Festival in February and then Lollapalooza in July, how excited are you for these festivals?

Playing festivals is very exciting, the level of energy is always insane, partying with these festival crowds is as addictive as it is indefinable, playing in Paris (my hometown) adds an extra « je-ne-sais-quoi » that makes it even more amazing

Is there anything you want to say to your fans?

I want to thank them very deeply for their support, they’re showing me tons of love each time I meet them. I really want to make it up to them by releasing great tracks and by challenging myself to be more & more surprising & creative behind the decks.
